Have a home studio but need somewhere to fire your work?

Want something custom like a slow-cool program or a luster fire?

We got you.

Bay Haven is pleased to offer firing services to our community in Alameda and beyond.

We have two electric kilns — a Skutt KM-818 (approx. 2.6 cubic feet) and a Bailey B-2927 (approx. 10 cubic feet). We can fire up to cone 6.

Pricing

Low-Fire – bisque, luster, low-fire clay

  • Skutt (small kiln, approx. 2.6 cu. ft): $78 full / $39 half

  • Bailey (large kiln, approx 10 cu. ft): $300 full / $150 half / $75 quarter

Mid-Fire – cone 5-6

  • Skutt (small kiln, approx. 2.6 cu. ft): $104 full / $52 half

  • Bailey (large kiln, approx 10 cu. ft): $400 full / $200 half / $100 quarter

Policies

  • Email us to arrange a drop-off appointment. Firing fees are due at dropoff.

  • All work must be boxed or contained so we can keep your items together. Work will be unloaded directly from your box into the kiln, and directly back into your box when firing is complete.

  • Please either purchase clay from Bay Haven or provide us with your clay body and temperature range. We cannot accept flammable, meltable, or unknown clay (e.g. metal, paper, wild clay)

  • If your greenware isn't bone-dry, we reserve the right to let it dry out until it's safe to fire. Work over 1" thick may be rejected.

  • Work will be ready for pickup within 2 weeks, likely sooner.

  • Work must be picked up within 30 days.
