Studio Policies
Effective October 2026
Bay Haven is a small, independent ceramics studio. Our classes have limited seats, and every registration helps us pay our instructors fairly, purchase materials, and keep the studio running.
Please review these policies before registering. We appreciate your understanding and your support of our little corner of the ceramics community!
Registration & Payment
Full payment is required at registration to reserve your spot. Registrations are for the specific class or session purchased.
Cancellations & Refunds
All registrations are final and nonrefundable, except where required by law or when Bay Haven cancels a class.
We cannot offer refunds, credits, or transfers to future sessions if your plans change. If you cannot attend, you may give your spot to someone else who meets the class prerequisites. Please notify us before the first class.
If Bay Haven cancels an entire class, you will receive a full refund. We may offer the option of transferring to another class, but you are not required to accept it. If Bay Haven cannot provide a substantial portion of a class you've purchased, we'll offer an appropriate refund for the instruction we cannot provide.
Missed Classes & Makeups
We cannot provide refunds, credits, or makeup classes for missed sessions, including those missed due to illness, travel, or scheduling conflicts.
Students enrolled in multiweek classes may use designated open studio hours to practice independently or catch up on projects. Open studio access ends when your enrolled session ends and cannot be extended.
Student Open Studio
Students in 6-week sessions are welcome to attend open studio hours during your enrolled session. These are currently Tuesday–Sunday, 11am–6pm, during your enrolled session, subject to availability. These hours may change due to classes, special events, maintenance, or studio closures.
Open studio hours are intended for the enrolled student only. Please do not bring children, pets, or emotional support animals to the studio.
Open studio is intended for independent practice. Instruction is not provided.
Workshops and special events do not include open studio access unless explicitly stated.
We aren’t able to offer day passes, drop-in access, or extensions to student open studio access.
Minimum Enrollment & Studio Cancellations
Classes require a minimum number of registrations to run. If a class does not meet minimum enrollment, Bay Haven may cancel it. We'll notify registered students as soon as possible and issue a full refund.
We also reserve the right to cancel or reschedule classes due to instructor illness, emergencies, or circumstances beyond our control. If we cannot provide the class you purchased, we'll refund the impacted instruction.
Materials, Glazing & Firing
Studio clay, glazes, and firing are included as described in your class listing. Students are not permitted to bring outside clay, glazes, or other materials.
Finished pottery may take several weeks to dry, glaze, and fire. Pickup dates are estimates. We'll notify you when your work is ready. Please pick up your pieces within 30 days of notification.
Ceramics involves unpredictability! Pieces can crack, warp, break, or experience glaze problems during drying and firing. While we handle everyone's work carefully, we cannot guarantee that every piece will survive the process.
Age Requirements
Students must be at least 16 years old to attend adult classes, subject to instructor discretion. Students ages 13–15 may participate when a parent or guardian is enrolled in the same class.
Studio Safety & Community
Always follow instructor guidance and studio safety procedures. Clean your workspace, tools, and equipment before leaving. Do not touch other people's work or operate kilns without permission.
For your safety, please wear closed-toe shoes and tie back long hair when using the pottery wheel.
Please do not use the studio while intoxicated.
Bay Haven is an inclusive studio, and respect for others’ names, pronouns, and lived experience is at the heart of our community. Harassment, discrimination, and unsafe behavior are not tolerated. We reserve the right to remove anyone whose behavior is unsafe, harassing, or repeatedly disruptive. Removal for serious misconduct does not entitle a student to a refund, except where required by law.
Thank You!
We're a small studio with a big community, and we want Bay Haven to be a welcoming, creative place for everyone. These policies help us keep classes affordable, treat our instructors fairly, and spend more time making pottery together.
Thanks for being part of it!
